Iv been thinking about working on this idea for a long time, it started with sketches and the idea that these would then grow into a series of paintings, but as with all my plans they always take a severe twist, i thought 'lets try and make these as realistic as possible by photomontaging these in my beloved Photoshop...
This process is taking an age to perfect and to be honest I dont think that I will ever perfect it! I wish it was as simple as cut and paste!!!! unfortunately there are soooo many factors to take in like lighting, texture, colour hues..... the list is massive... phew!!!
Anyways here is the beginning of a wonderful project... hope you like x

OOOh iv had such a busy week... iv been busy creating new digital works in the Victorian theme! I have taken a real interest in mirrors featuring in my work, I love the feeling that I have myself of that slight unnerving feeling you get in the back of your mind when looking in the mirror, that tiny terror that you just might see more than you would like, that creeping shadow or ghostly blur lurking behind you!!!!

While iv been researching and scouring the internet for the perfect images iv come across the most odd thing, im sure iv seen this before but it has never really registered... victorian post mortem photography.... relatives being photographed with their dead, and the deceased being put into poses as if they were alive ie: sitting on chairs etc... iv found this all really fascinating!
9 year old twins Clara and Florence both died of TB in 1902, their broken parents keep their urns on the mantle piece sitting above their chairs, hoping they find their way home.....
Thanks to Kim Wlassak for the use of the amazing twins x

Hi! I cant believe how quickly time has passed me by, the new year promises a lot more work with a slight twist on direction iv been focusing more on image manipulation in photoshop, im experimenting with creating multitudes of blending effects.
My first project was born out of an idea I had to produce a friends album artwork and has grown into a much bigger project, this is solely based on the beauty of blending to create vivid ghost like apperitions from a selection of vintage victorian photographs.

Hi, Urrgghh what a gloomy day today, I just have to say I watched an amazing film last night called 'The Prestige', its kind of complicated but amazing, its all to do with magic and illusion and for some reason that got me thinking about shadows and silhouettes!! and after along exciting search over the web i had an increasing urge to produce some work based on this. I came across the some of most beautiful delicate paper craft and illustration work, Its simple but so effective, Iv worked with silhouettes in before but usually in a more graphic design capacity and have never really produced any illustration work using this technique... so I was inspired :)
I took the idea of one of my previous pieces 'Sophie and the stars' and decided to make some new ideas from this. I looked at this mini project as a sequential story or book, so i started with the cover and heres a few
